I believe that people come to counselling wanting some kind of change.
As a counsellor I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, for you to explore and find your own insight into and understanding of your problem, and to make decisions about any changes you would like to make. Counselling is also useful in helping you to come to terms with those things that cannot be changed.
Counselling is a talking therapy; it is an opportunity to talk with a trained professional who will offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore any difficulties you may be experiencing.
Initially it can be helpful to meet weekly, so that we can develop a good understanding of the issues that are bringing you to counselling and start working towards change. As we move forwards, we may agree to meet less regularly as we work towards an ending. If you would prefer to meet fortnightly this is something we can discuss, so please feel free to get in touch.
At our first meeting we will take some time to explore what brings you to counselling, what you would like from our counselling sessions and how we might work together to achieve those goals. I will need to take some brief details and ask you a few questions, and you will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have.
As an integrative counsellor, I work flexibly within our sessions, tailoring the counselling to meet your needs. I will work alongside you, supporting you in exploring and understanding what is troubling you, and helping you to connect to your own answers and resources in order to find resolution.
I offer face to face counselling within the Shrewsbury area, as well as working via video link and telephone, or a combination of all.
